Monitoring velocity in real time

In the section about basic finger exercises, it says: “if possible, monitor your velocity levels with a display that shows your MIDI velocity in real time.”

Do you have any suggestions how to do this? It sounds like a very handy feature to have, but I can’t really find a way to do it yet.

Hi Woodzi,

in Addictive Drums 2, you can go to the "Map Window" and monitor your hit velocity in the little graph showing the velocity curve. In Ableton Live you can use the MIDI effect "Midi Monitor" to display the velocity you hit the pads with. I remember back in the day when I was using Cubase that there's an equivalent to that midi effect too.

If that doesn't help in your particular case, please google "Midi Monitoring" in conjunction with the DAW you use. You'll certainly find something that will fit your setup.
