Hi Andreas and Xpress Pads, I’ve found your video’s, reviews and tutorials very helpful, informative and inspiring in my research to try and find the right solution for my home studio set up. My first instrument is drums and so I record a lot of acoustic drums, however finger drumming, sequencing and drum machines etc are a great solution for my home set up. I wondered if you have an opinion on the Akai XR20 drum machine? I love the Akai MPC series and pad controllers, but I’m using the Tascam DP-32SD as I prefer that sort of workflow without a computer. I’ve been considering the Novation Circuit, but I’m not convinced it’s the right choice for me? The MPC touch would be amazing but it is not in my budget. Is there any other devices you could recommend? It would be great to hear from you. Best regards, […]

Hi […], Many thanks for your feedback! Unfortunately I don’t have experience with the AKAI XR 20. The Novation Circuit is rather a tool / toy for jamming… I don’t see a lot of use for it in professional music productions. I just purchased the MPC Touch but had to send it back due to the fact than none of my computers (PCs and Mac) were able to recognize the device. I do recommend the MPD218 if you want to play finger drumming… or even two actually. Best regards, Andreas
