Accented 8th notes hi hat

My questions are:
– are the accents only for the hi hats and not affect the kick/snare?
– how do you separate dynamics on one finger and keeping the same velocity on the other finger same hand?
– on MPD218, how do you do accenting? If you hit the pad, the velocity values are from 60 to 127. If you press the pad, the velocity is up to 60. Are you varying pressing and hitting?

Hi,

– Accents can actually be played on every kit piece, not only the hihat.
– That’s something that is admittedly hard to practice and requires some dedicated extra training time. I have thought about this question before and came to the conclusion that there are rarely occasions where I would like to accent one kit piece while I play another one very softly. That probably won’t help the “pulse” of a groove, which is usually generated by the back-and-forth play between different dynamic levels.
– The MPD218 is pretty sensitive, but I didn’t notice that the lowest velocity possible is just 60!! That’s odd. I’m traveling right now but I will double-check that with my two MPD218 once I’m back in my studio. I have read a couple of complaints about the MPD226 though that velocity sensitivity seems to be not changeable at all and that AKAI knows about that issue… not doing anything.
