Hi,

So far I am not aware of any such device, but there recently has been a thread in this forum that discusses exactly that topic. Please join the discussion there:

http://www.xpresspads.com/finger-drumming-forum/circuit-with-samples-for-finger-drumming-ideal-standalone-hardware/

I am very interested in this topic as well, but currently I am unfortunately lacking time to focus on it with the right amount of dedication.

Best regards

Andreas

I am still working on a stand alone solution. My standards are pretty high, so it’s hard and slow going. But I have made a major step ahead: An affordable, programmable and high quality soundmodule. I give you: the axoloti (http://axoloti.com). I have put together a fairly simple patch (included in this post). If you load it into your axoloti, add a microSDcard and give it some RAW monophonic drumsamples (use audacity and export as other uncompressed/RAW 16b), then you have a very basic drummachine for about €65. Just add a pad controller (only DIN midi for now) and an amp or headphones and off you go! update: video
current features:
– velocity sensitivity (only loudness)
– open highhat cut when closed is triggered
Things I will be working on:
– midi HOST capabilities, but you’ll probably want a drumpad with low-power mode (quneo, irig, launchpad, …?)
– retrigger polyphony. for now a retrigger of the same sound will cut off the previous sound
thoughts:
– multi sampled drums
– adjustable random tiny variation in velocity, pitch, filter, etc to get a more “human” feel, or to mitigate the machine gun effect
– instead of sampled drums: synthesized drums
– an easy way to handle all of the xpresspads layouts
– metronome
– …?

suggestions?
