PadKONTROL or iRig Pads for finger drumming?

Hi XpressPads,

I’m a pianist/ singer/ songwriter who’s about to buy your eCourse. I’m just new to finger-drumming and pardon me if my questions is innocent.

1. I’d like to know if I’ll need an X-Y controller (on Korg padKontrol) to play rolls or flams if I’m using Xpress Technique. Or may I play all the drum tech in real time?

2. Are the knobs and fader on the right-hand side of iRig Pads going to hinder me when druming?

Actually I’m making my decision between these two models. I think I seldom will use the 5-pin MIDI port on padKontrol.

So would you mind giving me some advice to choose one? Considering their playability and C/P values.

Thanks for your inquiry.

You don’t need an x-y controller like on the PadKontrol to play rolls and flams. You will do all this with your fingers. No hardware features needed for this. All drum tech is played in real time and you’ll get there for sure. ?

Good question regarding the iRig Pads. The faders and knobs won’t hinder you. When the fader is in upward position you won’t get into trouble. iRig Pads and PadKontrol are both pad controllers that I can recommend for finger drumming.

Right now I am pretty happy with the iRig Pads though. New video featuring the iRig pads coming up shortly. ?

Thank you for the quick and detailed reply. I think I’ll get a iRig Pads for it’s very compact and nice-looking. But how good is it used with a DAW? This model looks pretty programmable and has no steep learning curve, doesn’t it?

No probs. Anytime. DAW integration of the iRig Pads is simple. Just plug-n-play. The model is definitively easily programmable. In the video I will upload today or tomorrow I will go through the software editor. So stay tuned. ?
