Hi Andreas
I don’t think I quite understood the “Kit piece shuffle” exercise at the end of the Basics section. Could you give an example of it?

Thank You

Hi [name removed],

Thanks for getting in touch.

The goal of the kit piece shuffle is to make you effortlessly play ternary (3-based) phrases on different pads. This is what is often applied in drum fills.

It’s important that you alternate the kit pieces, so that you train your skills to move around the pad grid. In the eCourse I used the ABB, ABA, etc. placeholders to describe the concept of this exercise, but speaking in drum kit pieces this would be for example:

ABB:
BD – SD – SD – BD – SD – SD – BD – SD – SD and so on

ABA:
BD – SD – BD – BD – SD – BD – BD – SD – BD and so on

Hope this helps.

Best regards

Andreas
