Complete Program: Strange screen when opening the eCourse for Mac

When you see this screen when opening the Complete Program for Mac it means that you have one of the very few “case sensitive” system setups.

It is a minor thing to fix on our end and it is scheduled for the next software update that we will make. For the meantime the workaround is that we’ll provide you with the four separate eCourses with separate license keys. Those will work issue-free on your system. Just use the “feedback form” of the eCourse and we’ll send you the separate eCourses with activation codes.

I just bought your course, installed it, but when it comes up it doesn’t show anything. I have a sneaking suspicion that this was written on a case insensitive file system. Therefore your file names that are opened in your program does not case match the files on the disk.

I have 6 macs in the house. 2x Mac Pros, 2x Mac Minis and 2x MacBook Pro Retinas. Unfortunately none of them have a case insensitive OS on it. Everytime we buy a Mac, the first thing we do is Erase the drive and convert to Mac OS X, Case Sensitive, Journaled, so the way your program is I’ll never be able to run it.

Being a Mac developer myself (and a software developer retiree from [company name] after 40 years) I can recommend that you have your development machine a case sensitive file system. Every system developed on a case sensitive file system will work on a case insensitive one. The reverse is not true. In all my purchases, which are considerable, I have run into exactly three instances where Mac software failed to work on a case sensitive system.

1) eMedia company tutorial software (I contacted them and unfortunately, they said, their framework is the same for all OSs, and it is not case sensitive safe.

2) PreSonus, I purchase FaderPort from them and it wouldn’t install. However since I only had to install faderport bundle I did it manually. Just for your edification, what they did wrong was, they created a directory called “MIDI Device Plug-Ins” where it should have been “MIDI Device Plug-ins”. Notice “Ins” vs “ins”. So it didn’t work on a case sensitive system.

3) XpressPads s/w. Now I could probably do a “strings” on the executable, find the names of the files and then rename them accordingly in the package contents, but I don’t feel like fighting that battle.

Hi […],

First of all I’d like to thank you for your purchase and apologize that the eCourse doesn’t work on your systems right now.

Secondly, I’d like to thank you very much for sharing your expertise based on your professional work experience! – I can’t say how much I appreciate that and I am sure that this will help my developer a lot to get the problem fixed.

I have just mailed him and I hope to get feedback today, so that I can give you an estimate how quickly the problem will be fixed.

Have you tried to click on one of the broken images? Each works as an “entrance” to the separate eCourses. Did that work? Have you been able to see the course contents, pictures, note examples, and play the audio files?

Many thanks for having shared all that helpful information!

Best regards

Andreas

Hi […],

I spoke to my developer. He tested the single products on a case sensitive system and told me they work fine.

That’s why I’d like to ask you to download the core program and activate it with the separate activation code I also include below:

[…]

In case it works would you be ok with getting all the other three eCourses as separate applications as well?

As I will go on vacation tomorrow for a few days it would be great if you could let me know today if you have the chance to.

Sorry for the inconveniences.

Best regards

Andreas

Thanks, they all seem to work. So the problem is probably just in the from-end menu GUI.

One suggestion I have for your developer is, I can’t copy and paste the activation number. I have to type it in. It’s no big deal, but I thought I’d just mention it.
