2nd pad controller to work well with Maschine Studio?

First off; Andreas I have to state how incredibly impressed I am with the innovation, methodology and linear presentation of your ExpressPads course. It’s truly an amazing accomplishment. On a more casual note; I’m having a blast learning finger drumming using your techniques!

I’m a long way from even considering this however I’m curious what you would recommend as a 2nd controller to work effectively in tandem with Maschine Studio?

I just purchased an ExpressPads jersey from your store as a token tip-in-the-jar to applaud your efforts!

Hi,

Many thanks for your kind words and for being a customer… and even for purchasing our merch – much appreciated!!

Well, if you’d like to play finger drumming with two pad controllers to cover the Xtreme section of the Core Program I recommend that you use two pad controllers of the same make. While you probably spent a grand on your Maschine Studio there are inexpensive but great pad controllers available at a fraction of that price. The MPD218, for example, only costs 99 USD / EUR and is one of my most favourite pad controllers of all time. Also, please consider that your Maschine Studio has quite some housing space right and left next to the pad section. Placing a pad controller next to Maschine Studio would mean to have both pad sections placed pretty far away from one another, which might make it difficult to coordinate your hands.

So, if you aren’t tight on budget, I’d consider buying a pair of MPD218 or iRig Pads and you’ll be good to go.

All the best!

Andreas

Yes, this is was what I was more or less thinking. The good news is that I’ve got many hours of practice ahead of me before I need worry about additional complexities but I’ve been having so much fun learning through your program I couldn’t resist asking if there would be a good pairing that could slave off of Maschine Studio. Your points about spacing are pretty cut and dried and make absolute sense upon further thought.
Thanks again for all! Cheers and beers from Vancouver, BC!

Cool! – Really hope you’ll keep up your motivation. This way you’ll be an expert finger drummer soon.

Btw, I really like your feedback on the eCourse! – Would you mind if I’d take the essence of it and put it onto the homepage of the XpressPads website as a customer statement? – That would be great!

Many thanks again,

Andreas

PS: Stupid me! Bill, it's you! :-D I should have recognized you from your user name, haha... well it's late here, so I beg your pardon. You already left a customer statement, so please ignore my ignorant inquiry. Thanks again!
