Hi Andreas,

I’m working on the Advanced section and now reading “paradiddles”.

I don’t quite understand if you suggest to use paradiddles or to interpret those groove to alternating-hand rule to play?

best regards,

Hey […],

The traditional paradiddles are “sticking patterns”. Those are not really useful for finger drumming with the XP technique as they would break the alternating hands rule. However, the concept of converting the sticking pattern into a “splitting” pattern (splitting a paradiddle pattern across different kit pieces without changing the alternating hands rule) makes the paradiddles an interesting concept that is used by real drummers as well. That’s why I put it into the course.

Hope this helps. – If not, please let me know.

Best regards,

Andreas

So the “paradiddle sticking” becomes just a “concept” for building grooves/ patterns, while we don’t actually “play” the pads that way? That is, when playing, we’ll still apply RHRH whether the pattern is paradiddle or not?

Hope I don’t get your words wrong…

Hey thank you, now I think I got the idea!

And I’ll keep practicing. Hopefully one day could play as well as you do.
